College Admissions Consulting

As fit-focused college admissions consultants, we appreciate each student's uniqueness.  We customize everything we do in order to address the needs of each individual we work with.

There are three major areas in which we provide counsel:

  • Helping each student become aware of their interests and goals

  • Uncovering and exploring potential college choices that fit each student's individual needs, preferences, and strengths

  • Working with each student to put together the strongest application packages possible

Ideally, the college admissions consulting process should begin before a student enters high school. Having an understanding of what colleges will be looking for, helps students and their parents create academic, extracurricular, and financial plans that reduce stress and ensure wise choices will be made along the way.

As a student progresses through high school, his or her counseling needs become more specific.  During these years, we help students understand themselves and start to think about the kind of futures they want.  Based on those desires, we lead them step-by-step through the college admissions and decision-making processes and the myriad details they entail.

We help individuals planning to transfer, as well.  Particularly today, there are many good reasons to start college at a two-year school with the goal of transferring to a four-year institution.  We work with students to put a plan in place as early as possible, in order to make their transitions smooth and successful.

College Fit 360 offers a full range of college admissions consulting services to both high school students and college transfer students, including assistance with:

  • Academic Planning

College Success Coaching

,

Going to college has always been a big adjustment.  At once, students are called upon to manage their own time, handle a tougher workload, juggle more competing priorities, adapt to new social situations, live independently, and make decisions, without the support systems they are accustomed to.  Tough stuff, made even tougher by the fact that many have been helicoptered by protective, loving parents and are not used to assuming responsibility for their day-to-day needs.

We work one-on-one with students:

  • in the months before they leave for college to help them understand and plan for the upcoming changes

  • and, while they are at school, helping them anticipate the hurdles, troubleshoot problem areas and make strategic decisions that will maximize their college experience and prepare them for the workforce.

Specifically, we coach them with the following:

  • Transitional Issues

  • Academic Planning

  • Accessing Services

  • Skill-Building

  • Relationship-Building-networking

  • Proactive Resume Development-selecting/pursuing internships, research, and other opportunities, scheduling school breaks, gaining industry experience,

  • Personal Marketing

High School Students

It's not your father's college admissions process.  Today, there are a ton of moving parts to be dealt with in getting a student into college.  Having a professional devoted to your goals and personalizing the process

Most high schools have one or more college counselors.  Unfortunately, they typically carry caseloads that don't allow for much one-on-one attention to individual students.  Having a professional devoted to the needs of an individual student can make an enormous difference in terms of the stress-level and success of the college exploration and application process.

As fit-focused college admissions consultants, we appreciate each student's uniqueness.  We customize everything we do in order to address the needs of each individual we work with.

There are three major areas in which we provide counsel:

Transfer Students

Particularly today, there are plenty of good reasons for students to start college at a two-year school and transfer to a four-year institution later. But, the admissions process for transfer students is very different than that of students applying from high school.  Further, many community colleges have experienced cutbacks resulting in fewer class offerings, making it more challenging to transfer within two years.  Making a plan early is essential to ensuring a smooth and successful transition. We can help with:

  • Academic Planning  (Which classes to take and when to take them)

  • College Research and List-Building

  • Understanding Pathways to California Colleges (How can your transfer be guaranteed?

  • Credit/Course Requirements and Transfer Deadlines

  • Securing Letters of Recommendation

  • Essay Development
